All my reels are regularly maintained. (thank you reelmech)

But before each trip with my baitcasters, I put a drop of spool bearing oil on each side of the spool

and a little heavier oil on the worm gear.  Just to keep things nice and smooth.

What do you do to a spinning reel, just to give it optimum performance before or after each outing?

I oil the handle supporting bearings, the main shaft, the roller and the bail mechanism.

I clean and oil everything that moves on the EXTERIOR ONLY.  That includes the main shaft.

anyway.  What about unsrewing the handle and putting a drop of oil in there.

Do you remove the spool and put some grease or oil on the whatever it's called that the spool attaches too?

Avid, you don 't remove the handle and put a drop of oil in there, the oil will drop to other side  , the handle supporting bearings are around the little square hole where you insert the handle, you drop the oil between the square hole and the sideplate that way you oil the bearing ( s ).

The main shaft I was talking about is where the spool attaches to the reel, remove the spool & turn the handle until the main shaft extends to it 's maximum, drop one or two drops of oil between the shaft and the rotor and turn the handle a couple of times so it takes the oil with it inside.
