wacky rig

Featured Replies

Hello all. I have a question regarding wacky rigs. What is the going thought on o rings? Is that the preferred way to fish a wacky rig? I read a lot about using this technique when all else fails. Can this be a go to rig to start with? All thoughts appreciated.

If you use Yamamoto Senkos I would recommend the use of O-rings when wacky-rigging.  You can use Senko type worms made by other manufacturers without the O-ring though it will help any of these baits to last longer.  For a number of people the wacky-rig is a very successful technique and some would consider it one of their go-to choices.  I've had a lot of success with it and with weightless t-rigging of these worms.

Using an O-ring will get you a lot more mileage out of an individual bait.  They don't get torn up near as bad.

does it effect action at all???

I don't think it does, when I go wacky style thats the only way I do it is with a O-ring. They also

have tools out there where it is easier to put the ring on the worm.

hmm, I've never wacky rigged before, the whole O-ring thing, do you slip the hook between the ring and the worm instead of through it? wouldn't that make the hook run parallel with the worm? or am I missing something? :-/

us a octopus hook and hook right through the middle.

then double back throught the worm

thats how i fish it

Use zip ties they are alot better they hold onto worm tighter and they don't effect the action of the worm. also they are cheaper than o rings (no tool required)  ;D

Yes you do put the hook under the o ring or zip tie but only at the part it curves.
