New Shimano cumara?

Featured Replies

I think this was the series of rod I saw at my local tackle store but don't quote me on the exact name. Man were these light. I had never heard of them before. The looked to be in the out of my price range of around $200.

They were feather light, seemed as light or poss lighter than the St Croix Avid that I held next to it. I didn't do a scientific comparison though.

Has anyone else seen or used these?

I've looked at them, almost bought the CUCX68MH.  They are really nice rods.

am looking really hard at the 68m.

there's more than one santa in this house.

Im going to be getting one here after christmas along with my core...I'll let you know how it fishes....

hey fish fighting illini,

If the Cumara is out of your price range, have a look at the Crucial models.  This is the most under-rated rod I know of right now.  They are extremely light, very sensitive, sharp looking sticks.  They have a good selection of builds to choose from in this model.  They run from $119 to $139 depending on the length you choose.  I think anything 7' and over is $139.

I have a few of these rods and am totally impressed with them. Especially for the price.  I have a GL3 Loomis which cost a lot more than my Crucial and the Crucial is just plain better.  The GL3 is fairly light, but the sensitivity doesn't come close to the Crucial in my opinion.

I just got mine on Christmas Eve, but have yet to use it. Very nice, heard it uses a G Loomis blank, but mine had a made in China label  :-/.  I'll see how it fishes, bought if for my frog rod 7'2"MH model. Going to put a Shimano Metanium on it.

Cumara's look fantastic and paired with a Core would be a heck of a combo.

I agree with Jeff, I have two Crucial Swimbait rods and they are just awesome for the price.

Well...look at it this way; if it was 'made in America' it would cost $300.  I've held the Cumars at Cabelas...they are impressively light and balanced.  I'm curious about the sensitivity.  They feel hollow to me.  Not a bad thing; I'm just curious about it transmitting vibrations.  I loved what I held at Cabelas...

I have been eyeing these rods for a while now but just haven't had the extra cash flow to purchase one!  Fish-fighting-illini - you said that your price range was around the $200 range.  Depending on what length you get they are right around $200 a pop.  And also from what I have heard from my friend who has one is that it is more sensitive than the crucials (he has several of these as well).  Now back to my personal experience.  I have 8 or 10 Crucials and they are definitely the best rod for the money IMHO.
