Revo SX/Carrot Stix!  Sweet!!!!

fishingdude,

If you have opened the S then you know how to open the SX, they all open the same way.

The thing that might be the problem is the spool could be stuck in that side plate and not allowing you to twist the side plate all the way to the release position. Some anglers get in a hurry to open the reel, and have the cast control setup tight, this places pressure on the spool shaft and keeps the spool tight into the brake race on that side plate....

Back off the cast control cap, or remove it, and then try to make the spool move laterally (sideways), once the spool can be moved then try to twist the side plate.

Every time I have found the side plate stubborn this is how I got it to release..

Just my .02¢

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!!!

That's a great tip, Reelmech.  I keep my tension knobs backed off at home but it may be something I wouldn't have thought of while fishing with them.

Thanks, both of yall!

Did it work???

Yep, shes oiled up and ready to go! The cast control cap was tightened down and all i had to do was loosen it and it came right off.

Now, does anybody know of any orange reels grips or orange/black swirl reel grips?  I love reel grips and have them on all my reels but on this one they have to be a certain color.

That setup looks SICK!  :D

How do u guys like the sensitivity of the carrot stix rod? Also, how much did u pay for yours and where's a good place I can get one? I saw some on ebay for around $150.

The sensitivity is amazing, better than anything I have ever felt, closest thing is a Kistler imo. I have purchased mine from e21fishing.com and Simmons Sporting Goods.

I bought both of mine from delo's. They are a sponsor here on the forum. Click view all sponsors under the interchanging banner at the top of the page. They have I think 11 models of it in spinning and casting options. I love them! If you purchase one, you going to want a little bit smaller profile reel to put on it. I have two and I have the Revo SX on one and a Citica 100DSV on the other. One with 10lb Triline fluoro and the SX with 10lb Suffix Elite.

Get Ya One!

Tin, Redlinerobert, and I are believers in the carrot stix.

Nice lookin setup man. I'm going to buy another one soon, best rod I've ever had.

uh-oh, that d**n baitmonkey is clawing at my wallet again!

Question though, I have never seen this "parabolic" action for a rod, what does this mean? I wanna get a rod for mainly soft plastics and topwater, which action from the carrot stix should I get?

What length, action and what technique will it be used for?

'Parobolic' in fishing rod terms generally refers to a moderate action rod.  Rods deemed parabolic are generally used for crankbaits;  the opposite of what is desired in a worm and jig fishing rod.  Someone may chime in and say all rods are parabolic, aka have a parabol, so for that crowd the parabol is more towards the middle  :D:P

I think the best part about this rod is not the color or sensitivity, it the weight! It is the lightest rods i own. A reel weighing any heavier than any revo (8.7) feels too heavy. And having to find a light enough reel is not a bad problem to have. I haven't tried braid on these but i saw a show where Boyd Duckett was fishing one with a swimming frog w/ braid.

Ahh...thank you sir.

IL Fisherman,

You won't be let down with a carrot stix!

Question: How do you open the side plate on the SX? I can open the S with ease but I can't get it open on the SX. I'm unscrewing the top screw on the other side of the reel.

Here you go. It will be a little tight.

thanks for the pics, now i know 8-)
