so i was fishing with my uncle and he brought up a new way to use a crankbait, and i was wondering if any of you have used it or think it would work. could you  use a crankbait kinda like a jerkbait?

sure you can, it's a very productive method to fish a shallow running crank just under the surface.

Yes, that is how I fish shad raps but instead of a hard jerk just use a pulling motion on the rod.

yeah thats a pretty darn common way of fishing a crankbait. alot of times i'll reel it in, then just kill it, twitch it some, and get bit then.

Yea man; I like using a shallow Bagley's or a Shad Rap this way ! Slow wide wobble or a seireis of stop and goes, I have had limited sucess doing this. I probablly would have more if I used this presentation more, it works

Tight wobblers are excellent with slight jerks while cranking. I recommend you pick up some Daiwa Peanut crankbaits. This is by far the crankbait I jerk the most while cranking due to its very aggressive tight wobble that responds very well to slight jerks. Did I mention how productive it is? Try one and I bet you anything youll be buying more. Whoever it was that mentioned the Shad Rap is right to thats another good crank, legendary actually.

Muddy, any of the flat sided baits with short lip will work.  I'm really a bit biased but the baits I build out of 3/8 thick stock work really well with this tech.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

The first time I did this was with a big O.  I had cast it to the bank and it landed in a beautiful spot.  It was tucked into this small cut in the bank.

I decided to just let sit a few moments.  Before I started my retrieve I "popped" it once.    KA-SPLOOSH!!

It was an explosive topwater strike.

The bass was a chunky 3 lber and I was hooked.
