Good all around rod to pair with a Revo S

Featured Replies

Baitmonkey has hit me hard as of late.

Picked up a Citica and Falcon Rod a couple weeks ago. Found a good deal on Ebay for a brand new Revo S for 90 dollars. Now I need a good all around rod to go with it. Around 100-150 dollars.

6' 6" or 7' med. Fenwick HMG 8-)

I have my Revo S's on a St Croix Legend Tournament 6'6" Med. Fast, and a St Croix Legend Tournament 7' Med. Fast. I have had my Curado 101D on the 7', but I moved that to another rod. The Revo seems to "feel" better on those rods IMHO. Take a look around and you might still find the pre-2008 Legend Tournaments for less than $150, I paid $150 each for the above mentioned rods. If not, I am a big fan of the Fenwick HMX's a 6'6" MH is a great "all-purpose" rod. I am putting a soon to be bought third Revo S-L on that rod.

I have yet to fish with the 2 Croix rods, but I am sure the will be perfect for what I want. The HMX handels just about every thing well.

I have both of my Revo Ss on All Star American Classic 6'8" MH/F (AC SBR2) rated for 10-20lb line and 3/8-1 oz lures.   I just got these two rods a few months ago.  But I've had a Team All Star IM10 in the same length/power/action for some time and have used it pretty heavily.

This is a "spinnerbait" rod according to All Star, but it's an all-around rod for me.  The tip is a little on the soft side.  Of course, it handles spinner baits very well.  But I've use it for jerkbaits, plastics, big cranks, jigs, and have even used it for frogs (though the tip's wee bit too soft to be ideal for that, but it works in a pinch).

The American Classic series by All Star is a great line.  The rods are sensitive and brute strong.  They run in the high $80s to $90s.

I have an older 7 foot ex fast med All Star Classic, I use it for jigging and it is sweet also! 8-)

Don't forget to check out Shimano Crucials, hard to beat for the money.   8-)

Decided that for right now I'm going to take the Falcon 66MH Lowrider and use that on my Revo S, instead of my Citica 100.

Bought a Shimano Clarus 66mmf and I'm going to put my citica 100 on that for topwaters and small crankbaits.

Figured I showed chill for a bit lol so I settled for the 59 dollar rod. ;)

But I will take the suggestions here and check them out for when old Uncle Sam sends us our economic spending package. Probably will go with the St Croix Legends when that time comes. Love my spinning rod from them.

Thanks men.
