Berkley Sensation Line...Good or bad

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried this?  I have been using Suffix mono but the Berkley is on sale and I thought I would try it.  Thanks for the assistance.

Awesome stuff!!!!!!  Before I found P-line I used this stuff all the time.  It has the same diam. of most fluorocarbons and is inexpensive.  Casts very well and sensative. however i can't compare it to suffix cause i haven't tried it yet.

It's all I have used now since it first came out...

probably the most sensitive mono ever made.

My dad and I have used it for several years. I've had no problem with it. It only broke one time because I had my drag extremely tight, my fault. My dad on the other hand seems to have alot of problems. His seems to twist alot and break sometimes, mine does't . I'm not not sure why because he's in charge of spooling why I take care of other stuff. Heck they are even all stored together.

Avoid Berkley Sensation like the plague. It has terrible knot strength, no matter what knot you use. IT SUCKS!

A few years back I used it for one season on my crankin' setup.  I remember liking Stren Sensor better.  No complaints, no major issues....it didn't knock my socks off though.

I think very much the opposite. A great line, best Mono made IMHO, maybe you got a bad batch, or need to learn better knot tying.

I tie good knots and never have a problem with other lines of similar test. I tried several spools and it was the same thing, just terrible knot strength.

I have had zero problems with it.   ;)

I must agree with ice.

I got several spools as a promo from berkley at a tourney.   Maybe they were bad or something but I'd  think they'd want there promo items to be top shelf for demo reasons.

I've used many differnt lines.  I would never spend my own money on the sensation.  It is one of the few berkley products I have a negative opinion about.  Most of my mono is Trilene XL or XT.

I prefer Stren magna thin for that application when I want a thinner more sensitive mono.  It has better tensile strength, sensitivity, abrasion resistance and knot strength than Sensation IMHO.

Sensation is hands down the best mono I have used!  Ike used Sensation and Vanish exclusively when he won AOY.  I have even found that I can go down a line size on my spinning rods and not see a noticable difference in number of breakoffs.  I am now using 6lb on dropshots and shakey heads.  I feel like I get more bites with it and can feel better than with other mono.  On numerous occasions I have tried to break off when I get hung up and end up pulling my boat instead of breaking the 6lb line.  ( I have a 20' Skeeter so its a boat with a little weight).  All in All, it is a very good line.

w/ 8lb sensastion I landed a 20lb carp!  U try doing that w/ other monos in that line class.  Of course it helped that i loosened my drag ;)
