Do you have to remove the side plate and adjust a centrifugal brake when you change lure weights. If not,what controls spool over spin that causes backlash. Do you need a better educated thumb? Is there a preference in brakes by the fisherman fraternity?

Once you get the brakes set for your thumb, you can pretty much leave it alone. Use the spool tension adjustment for changing bait weights. Quick and easy.

ghoti got it. About the only time you need to adjust the brakes is if the wind picks up.

I don't know how my Citica 201D or Curado 101D will handle yet as they are new to me this year and I have yet to get out and use them. But on my Revo S-L I have 3 in, 3 out and leave them like that all the time and I have no issues. On my Daiwa's (magnaetic brakes) and Quantum's (centrifical), even though they are externaly adjustable, I usually leave them alone as well. I think I have the Daiwa's set at 4 or 5, and the Quantum Accurist's set at the middle (3 or 6 brakes, can't remember).
