Quantum Energy PT vs Abu Pro max

Featured Replies

Hey gus I am about to get a couple of new reels and I am a die hard Abu fan, but I can get an Energy PT for around 80-100 after rebate, are they any good?  Not replacing any of my Abu's, just need another setup.  any input helps.  Thanks

I have two of each, the PT's are good, but the new Pro Maxes cast better IMO but arent quite as smooth. I actually like the Quantum Codes better than the PT's

Is the Pro Max one of the new cheaper Revo models?

I had a Quantum Energy PT for about a week and then got a Revo STX and Premier and had to sell the PT because it wasn't in the same league as the Revos.  The Revo STX can be found on Ebay for about 135.  I think you can get an SX for even cheaper though and that might put you closer to the Quantum PT price.

on the Diawa Advantage 160.,Diawa Veneto 200,,Teh Pfluegers: Trion 100.,President 140.,Supreme 180 and the Patriarch 200. Or these Shimanos:Cardiff 110.Citica 119.,

I have two Revo SX's and love them both and a promax and am impressed with it, I was just wondering about the Energy PT's, but since no one gave them a real good response, I think that I will just pick up a couple of Revo S's for two more setup's.  Thanks everyone.  I guess that I just had to get some help when I caught myself thinking about buying a reel other than an ABU, momentary lapse in judgement.

Thanks again

If you're patient sometimes you can get a SX for the price of S on ebay.  Pick your dealer safely and you should be ok.  I'd go for the SX over the S.  I've never fished with an S but I like to be able to adjust the magnets on the go.

I was an Abu Garcia skeptic, turned believer. I used almost exclusively Quantum gear for a number of years and recently decided to buy the REVO SX. I went back and bought another one a month later and now I'm considering putting them on all my rods. Smoothest reel I've ever had and my pitching accuracy increased a ton.

I have used the pts for two years and love them to death...I have never used the revos so hard to compare..If you like what you already have why change..Just my two cents..

Well you might like what you have, but you may love something you've never even tried.
