Seeking new line, another Yo-Zuri question

Featured Replies

I have used Stren original for a long time, the only reason I am wanting to take a look at other lines is because you only know if better is out there by experimenting. To make this short as possible, I have a couple questions. Can Yo-Zuri ultrasoft handle flipping or pitching well, and how does it do in heavy cover? Does the ultrasoft excel in all applications (spinnerbaits, worming, jerkbaits, etc)? My last quesion is about the visibility. If you are line watching, is it plenty visible (I can see the Stren original very clearly)? Thanks.

Well, for "most" casting, the Ultra Soft is the ticket. High strength braid might be a better choice for thick vegetation because it "cuts through" the thick stuff. For flipping and pitching, I think original Hybrid #15 (23 lb test) might be better if you are fishing where hang-ups are common. (#15 is as high as you can go if you want to be able to break the line when you need to).

Both Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft can be seen above water. The original formula is less visible underwater, but both blend well. The main attribute of Ultra Soft vs. Hybrid is memory, or an almost total absence of memory "in use". Hybrid coils initially from being stored on the spool, but straightens out after just a few casts.

For casting, I recommend #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test) on spinning tackle, #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb test) on baitcasters. I am experimenting with original #15 for swimbaits and jigs. With heavy lures or short presentations, memory is not an issue.

Great line. RW got me hooked last year. With all do respect i think RW mixed it up though...i believe it should have read #6 for spinning and #12 for casting...if not i appologize.

In my opinion, Y-Z ultrasoft is superior to original stren in every way you asked about.
