best line for rocks?

Featured Replies

any of you guys have suggestions for the best line with superior abrasion resistance when fishing rocks? thanks

Abrasion resistance is EXACTLY why I choose Trilene XT.  Toughest line I've ever fished and the new formula is even better!!

braid, Stren Superbraid, Suffix braid, original Spiderwire.

Rub that braid on a rock and see just how abrasion resistant it is.

Yup, that is a bad combo. I like the Trilene 100% flouro

Mono, Trilene XT, braid, Stren Superbraid, Suffix braid, original Spiderwire.

Braid frays and cuts...

XT or Big Game is fine. P-Line CXX, Yo-Zuri Hybird/ Ultra Soft, Gamma, other copolymers plus all fluorocarbons will work. Abrasion resistance is an attribute not associated with braid.

X3      Braid is terrible in rocks. When I throw cranks in rocky areas i use Ironsilk.. It is tough

A good flouro would be the best bet or maybe some of the copolymers. Braid is a big no no with rocks.

I used to fish with Big game on the Arkansas river. I fished cranks all in the rocks and it did really well. I would re-tie fairly often but it did well. Now I like Seagur and Triple fish X Rated for this application.

I must be getting lucky then, I have been using Sufix and Stren braid on the river becouse of all the junk floating and rocky rapids. So far the braid has held up well, wish I could say the same for the regular Yo-Zuri Hybrid that kept snapping, leaving my lures in the river. I am using 20lb braid.

Trilene XT

Big Game

P-Line CXX

Those are good lines for fishing rocks.

In my experience, any of these will do great in the rip rap and logs..

PLine CXX, YoZuri Hybrid, Trilene XT, Suffix Elite.
