If you would consider a round reel, my deep diving rig is a Lamiglas

SR705R matched with a Shimano CTE200GT (5.0:1). It's sweet!

p.s. The SR705R is on sale at Cabela's:

RW, from what i've been reading its been saying i need a m/mf action rod...The SR705r says fast...my GL3 is a 7 ft MH fast action rod copuld i just use that? also dont really like the round reels have anything else in mind? and do i have to use a 5.0 reel could i use like a 6.3?

I need a new crankin stick also. I am thinking that Lamiglas may be the way to go. I have never heard a bad word about them.

The rod is rated Moderate Action on the Lamiglas website:

http://www.lamiglas.com/prod_indiv.php?id=38

All components are top shelf and the rod is stout. I think

this is the ideal rod for big treble hook lures and deep divers.

FWIW - As a rod builder, I think that Lamiglas rods and blanks are the most underrated in the industry. They are light, sensitive and tougher than nails. They are keeping fiberglass rods in the hands of good fishermen. Quality for the buck, they can't be beat and for some applications, they can't be beat for any price. JMHO

I use a Daiwa Sol on a 6'9" M-Parabolic Carrot Stix to throw my crankbaits. I absolutely love this rig.
