knot to use for flipping rig and braided line

Recommended Posts

well like the topics suggest.  in my previous rig (i think i was using like 50lb mono)  i just tied a snell knot to the hook.  Now that i have a new reel (kvd sig bc) with 50lb power pro braid, what kinda of knot should i use (this rig is for flipping only)?  i guess what do you guys use?  thanks

Palomar is the only way to go with braid in my experience.

Palomar.  Simple and very effective.

yeah i use a palomar knot on my other braid line but i like how when you tie the snell knot upon lifting the rod tip it cause the hook point to pop up like a stinger.  i guess im trying to ask if you can tie a snell knot properly with braid and still have it be effective (holding the knot or so).  or will it slip.  thanks guys.

Honestly, if you pull just about any knot tight enough and retie as necessary, you shouldnt have a problem with too many knots.

A lot of times there are too many "rules" in fishing.  I tie knots with braid that most people wouldnt recommend.  I havent had a knot fail yet.

I dont forsee "yet" being any time soon either.   :)

While I haven't used Power Pro, I do use braid when I'm fishing the river. I use Suffix and tie the Palomar knot as well. I have not had any issues with the knot slipping either.
