Which Shimano rod compares to IMX.

Featured Replies

I am really wanting to get a Shimano rod, but would like one that is comparable(not identical) to G.Loomis IMX. I have a Crucial picked out 7' MH fast or should I look at the Cumara. What do you guys think?

IMO Shimano doesn't make a rod that compares with the Loomis IMX, except that Shimano owns the G.Loomis company. The Cumara comes closest, but it's not a Loomis IMX. Crucials are not even on the same planet. I hope I answered your question. I have 5 IMX rods. I shopped for a Cumara when they first came out and fished with a friends and they just don't have any magic for me. Hope this helps.

IMO i think the Cumara does stack up. I love the Cumaras, i had always used a 7'MH imx for med jigs and t-rigs, but recently got a couple of cumaras and have passed the imx on to my fishing partner.

I think the Crucial Spinning DS rod is the best rod Shimano makes.  However, it is no IMX.

If you wanted to spend a little less and get a good quality rod I would take a look at the St. Croix's

Any rod from the Avids, Legend Tournament, to the Legend Elite's are awesome.  The LE's are expensive though, but I like mine alot.  Good Luck.

You poor unfortunate sole.

Have IMX and one Cumara beater I use as my Kermit retriever.
