I am wanting a cranking rod specifically for slinging DD22's and other large crankbaits.  I am looking for a rod longer than 7' to get the extra length on a cast to reach deeper depths.  Has anyone had any experience with this rod?  I have read a bunch about the 7'ers and it all seems to be possitive and I love everyone of my other Crucials.

I have no input but a question, I haven't used a crucial.... how heavy are they? would you consider them a heavier or a lighter rod?

I agree RW the only reason the SR705R is not in my future is that I am looking for a rod with a little more length than a 7' to get the added distance on my casts.  I am actually thinking about the 7'11" now after talking with some of my deep cranking guru buddies.  From everything I have seen and heard, when I am in the market for a 7fter I will definitely take a hard look at the Lamiglas.

If you are asking about the weight of the Crucials, I would rate them about middle of the road.  They are not super light weight like Carrot Sticks but they are not 2x4's either.  I really like the balance of them.

I have a rod box full of Crucials and feel that, for the money, they are very hard to beat.

Well, I'm not trying to "sell you" on the rod, but the MSRP from Lamiglas is $230, not the $180 Cabela's lists ($165 on sale). The rod was originally rated "Fast Action" which is printed on mine, but that was never true. Now Lamiglas rates it "Moderate" on their website. However, both flechero and I think it's much closer to "Slow". The point is, this rod really loads up and you can cast a DD22 75 yards on a calm day!

Anyhow, I'm sure you will find exactly what you're looking for, I just wanted to offer another suggestion.
