Rapala Jointed Shad Rap?

Featured Replies

Is this lure a good fall lure? I have been haveing success with rattle traps and was checking out these jointed shad rap rapalas today. I noticed they do rattle like a rattle trap yet have different action. They look more like a distressed bait fish than a rattle trap. I was wondering since they rattle will they also make a good choice for a fall/winter hard bait? Just wondering?

i have really good luck on them i switched out the hooks for some larger 1

missed alot of bites or they would come off the hook half to the boat

FivePoundBluegill, i would think they would work better in fall, but i haven't had luck one them before. I'm not sure if the would work in California's clear water. I fished in Northeast with it and caught nothing.

They work for me in summer and fall. We have very clear water on St. Clair and they are very productive. I like the red crawdad, and shad colors.

The last time out, this was my go to lure.  The Shad color and a blue/siler were the best for me.

I fish JSR's alot and find them to be a great search tool. The 1 1/2 - 2" work best down  in my area. Crawdad red & bass are my favorites. I'm not sure what would work best in Calif. waters - my waters are typically stained.

i love the jointed shad rap. shad is the best color.

i don't really have much luck with mine... but i did catch a bluegill once....... ;)

I have much better results with the regular single body than with the jointed.

I love the regular shad rap, but have not caught a single fish on the jointed...
