Riggin/fishing crawdad baits?

Featured Replies

I really havn't used these much, as I only had one or two, but I just recieved a bunch of different styles and colors from *** and I want to start experimenting with them.

What ways do you guys find the best for rigging and fishing soft plastic crawdad baits? T-rig? C-rig? Weightless? As a jig trailer?

Jig trailer mainly for me.

I only use them for jig trailers. I have tried them Texas Rigged in many diferent situations, but with only minimal sucess.

When you guys use them as trailers, do you use a plain jig head or one with a skirt, or does it really matter? I just organized all my gear and I set up one rod with a rig and crawdad trailer that I play to use when I go out next week.

I usually fish them as a jig trailer, but I really like the Paca Craws and the zooms ultra vibe speed craw's texas rigged. Just pitch them into the holes in mats of grass and such and they work great. If you use a weight heavier than a 1/8 oz. it gives the claws a lot of action. Been one of my go to's this year.

I use crawdad baits as trailors, and i texas rig em'...and if they're small enough, i sometimes put them on a shakey head...

trailors: eakins craw and paca craw

texas rig: CRITTER CRAW, and paca craw

shakey head: Berkley power craw

hope this helps

Larger craw worms Texas Rigged a deadly year round, Paca Craws on Spot Remover jig heads are deadly during pre-spawn/spawn.

I use them mostly as jig trailers but like them trigged in brush piles.

I'm going to give the Paca Craws a whirl on some Owner Standup jigheads as well.

But I also plan on using them on a long shank ball head as well.

I like using the little GYCB ones (pumpkinseed especially) t-rigged around lily pads.  You can work them over the pads then let them sink once you get to the edge.  I've had some really good days with this method.  I prefer chunks for jig trailers.

Alright I'll give it a shot. I'd have to go check again but I'm pretty sure I have both sizes of the beaver.
