Baitcasting Reels

Featured Replies

I recently started fishing with a Pinnacle (ISP10) Inertia BaitCasting Reel.

Its been a challenge to overcome the backlash but I am getting better at it. I understand the Cast Control Knob and I have been thumbing the spool during casts.

The Specs for the reel call for a Line Capacity of 12 lb /120 yds. Prior to reading the reel specs I loaded it with 8 lb line.

My question is....If I replace the 8 lb line with 12 or 14 will the reel have less of a chance of backlash while using the same methods I described above?. In other words does the lighter line add to the backlash?

Thanks....JB

Welcome aboard!

Yes.

Thinner diameter lines tend to "dig" into the spool.

I think #12 (.013" diameter) or larger will help a

great deal.

8-)

hopefully you didn't get that reel from a walmart... and if you did, i hope you kept the receipt for when your anti reverse breaks in a month

Hahaha, yep a Walmart special.

Thanks for letting me know.

As most here will agree, using KVD Line & Lure will help with your casting distance and accuracy and reduce you backlashes...As for the reel I cant help there. :)

i bought a pinnacle solene once from walmart, broke the anti reverse in like 2 months, traded it for another one, broke that anti reverse in like 2 weeks, looked at the inertias at walmart, noticed that one of them already had its anti reverse broken...

then decided it was worth coughing up the extra money for quality

I would like to make a suggestion here.Keep your eye on BPS, they will put the Extremes on salte for 60 bucks soon, they are a much better product at this price range,
