Thinking of getting mono in bulk spools as I change my line several times per season on several reels. I have not done so yet because of concerns about long term storage/shelf life, especially over the winter.

Sooo, my question is how should one store their line for the long term? In a paper bag? Plastic? warm? cold? Hermeticly sealed on Funken Waggnel's porch??

Store your line in a closet, in the house. The primary cause for line

aging is ultraviolet light. Extreme temperatures may also have some

impact. Mono absorbs water, too, but that is an issue for spooled line,

not storage.

I keep my spools in a drawer down in the basement.

I keep mine in the basement, no special packaging, and it lasts for years.

I store all my lines in a dark room in a drawer,cool end of the house. Mono begins to deteriate, loosing some knot strength after two years. Some mono is two years old when you buy it. I've had Yoz U.S. and power pro for up to four years with no decline in the quality.

keep it at room temp and out of direct sun light and very high or very low heat changes, and it will be fine.

I found spools of 10lb and 17lb XT in my garage that had been in there for at least 10 years.  Used it last summer without a hitch.  That line saw -30 temps as well as summer heat of near 100 deg.  I still have some of the 17lb left and will use it, nothing wrong with it at all.
