crayfish cranks

Featured Replies

i was wondering if anyone uses crayfish crankbaits and if they work or not. i don't mean crayfish pattern cranks only the ones that are actually shaped like a crayfish. Do they work and how do you use them?

I never hit the river without my rebel craws and I just chunk and real.  I try to hit all the fishy looking cover I can.

how do you fish them though?

toss'em out and reel 'em in.   I found they work best around rocks, but anywhere works too.

I used those little rebel crayfish cranks alot when I was fishing for smallies in the Wallkill river.

The best approach I found was a quatering downstream cast, followed by a slow retrieve.  When the lure started the swinging arc I would brace myself for the strike.  Keep casting at different distances to get the lure swinging at different points in the stream.  90 percent of my strikes came while the bait was swinging in the arch.

Check these out! 8-)Here are some pics

It will not let me put up the link. They are made by Reaction Inovation and you can find them on another site site under crankbaits  14 bcuks a pop

T-Rig, that is a cool looking lure.

Muddy, method cranks are good little baits.

But this is my favorite little craw crank, made by me:)

Besides the Rebel crayfish I have good luck on a Luhr Jensen Klawdad.

they should make a crayfish crank that swims up when it is cranked in and sinks regularly... wouldn't this mimic a crayfish better than one that floats and then dives?
