Anyone own BPS Johnny Morris Signature series rods?

Featured Replies

I'm looking into getting some and would like some feedback from owners.

I picked up a 6'6" MH spinning rod a couple months ago and so far, I like it. I haven't used it all that much, but it's pretty light and very sensitive.

I have one; a 7' MH baitcasting rod. Very sensitive, top notch guides, an excellent reel seat.

In the same price range a St Croix Avid is, in my opinion, a better rod. But, when the JM's go on sale, which they do regularly, they are a lot of bang for the buck.

I saw them on sale, earlier this year, for $100. At that price nothing else out there can touch them.

That is a higher being telling you to stop being a senko chucker ;D

They are on sale in the Christmas catalog.  I have had a couple of these rods and have switched back to my St Croix rods.

The JM Sig. series rods are very nice, but I do not like the way the guide tightens down to hold the reel.  If you hold this section of the rod it is very easy to start loosening it up.  Other then that the rod is very top notch.

Later, :)

With the current sale going the Johnny Morris rods are $70.  To buy a set of guides (Fuji titanium frame SIC) will cost more than that.  You can buy them for the guides and use the blanks for driveway markers.

By the way, the guy who broke his rod should put the guides for sale on eBay and reclaim some of his losses.

The owner reviews of the rods on the BPS web site are all very positive.  I expect the rods are well worth the $70 they are going for now.

That guy went back to BPS and got another rod. And it wasn't me.

I seriously doubt that. And tons of high end manufacturers have great warranties.
