MBR 844 - good for these apps?

Recommended Posts

im missing a heavy rod and im thinking of buying the MBR 844. this rod would be used for 1/2 -3/4 oz t-rigged plastics, jigs, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, frogs and light swimbaits.

my main concern is 1oz swimbaits like the king shad and Spro BBZ-1. i wont be using these much but id like to know that the rod can handle them as i cannot justify buying a swimbait rod.

how do you guys like your 844 for these applications? am i asking too much of the rod with the swimbaits?

thanks

The rod is a 10/10, but buy the IMX series. This is

what separates G. Loomis from the pretenders. The

rod can handle Mattlures Baby Bass (1.3 oz) without

stress. For me, this is my dedicated jig rod.

i was thinking of buying the GLX. did you mean get IMX over GL3 or do you think IMX is the best value for the apps i mentioned?

i can get the GLX for $275 or the IMX for $210.

thanks, RW

I meant at least IMX. Mine is a GLX and you'll like it, too!

And yes...it's worth the extra dough.

;D ;D ;D

I have this rod (GLX) paired with a calcutta 100dc and used it all last week in Fl. I tossed just about everything  with it,  senkos, jerks, small cranks, t rigs, frogs, traps, and as RW said Mattlures perch and the 4in spro BBZ and it did it all!!!!!!!!! GREAT Rod!!!!   To be honest I have not used it too much before this trip as I have been partial to my steez/782 glx setup but I think it will see much more action now
