I have found that purple smoke blends almost perfectly in stained water.

In gin clear water, green is the ticket. "Clear" always appears white to me

and seems to contrast rather than blend.

Your thoughts on clear do pertain to most lines, but CXX, and couple of other coated and sealed lines are very Transparent.  

Doug Hannon said if you you want to camo your line to use purple. Or was it blue?  I think it was purple.

RW, didn't you say something a while ago about smoke getting hard to find.  That is, Yozuri smoke color.

so do you think the power pro phantom red does or does not ''dissapear'' in water deeper than 3-5 ft. ?? or should i go back to moss green . i use 20,30, 50, and 65 lb. line , with either mono or flourocarbon leaders anywhere from 5-12 ft. , i use lipless crankbaits at around 15-25 ft. plus 14-20 ft. deep-diving crankbaits . do i need more leader length ?? is my braid gonna scare fish ? i fish in a pretty clear lake , lake dixon in san diego ,ca . the lake is highly pressured and there are BIG bass in this lake but was wondering if my line is limiting me by being very visible  

Been using "clear" for the past few years in mono and until I started using braid in Moss green color and getting good bites even in crystal clear water decided to go back to "green" mono this year to see if it makes a difference.  Used to use nothing but green Berkley Trilene XT and got away from it.  Guess what goes around comes around.

That's because 'clear' YoZuri line is about as clear as mud.

what about red? cajun red.

a buddy of mine always had that spooled on his reel and had no problem catching fish as far as i remember.

Fluorocarbon is a wonderful thing. 8-)
