The Empire Strikes Back

Recommended Posts

I was starting to switch over to Daiwa, but the empire strikes back. Just picked it up at *** the new Chronarch D. Can't wait to use it.

I'm puzzled why there would be much interest in this reel when you can easily find a Metanium MG for the same price on Ebay - you get a 6 oz version of this reel with two more bearings.

Puzzled.

So you left the Dark Side and went with Shimano.

Good move.  :D

Did you buy the D7 or the D5?  Let us know how you like it - you'll be one of the first to have it in hand.  It does look like a sweet reel!

Good point, bigbassdave.  The Metanium has an 80mm handle, I am guessing the Chronarch will have an 84mm handle.  Not a lot of fishermen buy the JDM reels.

These Chronarchs are fast becoming "enthusiast" reels.  300 smackers is not pocket change...and I am sure I'll have one soon!

I bought the D7.  I have been waiting and saving a long time to get this reel. I have the CuradoE7 and the old Chronarch B and I cannot wait to compare them.

Aside from the reduced weight and reduced line capacity and ergonomics, I'm really curious about the performance differences between the Chronarch D7 and the Curado E7.  While the E7 does well with lighter baits, I expect the D7 to shine in that arena.  I'm curious if the D7 will even come close to the 50MG when it comes to lightweight stuff.  Just on pure casting, the E7 is a casting beast stock, so I'd imagine you will be able to spool that D7 while tossing a lipless crank.  Very excited to hear some of your impressions...

You're a month behind the times.

I don't think he's just showing us a pic of it; I think he bought it.  It'll be the first one anyone's bought on this site that I am aware of.

I just realized that.  Hard to decipher the initial post.

I was going to order, but I'm going to wait and see what happens with the Aldebaran.
