your favourite flourocarbon as main line

Featured Replies

I've only used two fluorocarbons, one for casting and one for spinning.

I am very impressed with Toray Super Hard Upgrade, which I have used in 16lb and 20lb for jigs and texas rigs on a couple of baitcasters. Based on TackleTour's fluorocarbon showdown it is the most abrasion resistant fluorocarbon they reviewed, a quality I was looking for since I was switching from P-Line CXX, a notoriously highly abrasion resistant line. It has low stretch and provides great sensitivity. It also lasts a long time. I had a spool of 20lb last from April to December and only respooled because I was dropping to 16lb. The only downside I've noticed is because it is a stiffer line it is important not to backlash or get kinks in the line. It definitely requires more management, but nothing that is time consuming or frustrating.

The other fluorocarbon I have used is Sunline FC Sniper on my spinning setup. It can be tricky to spool on without getting twists and loops but I like it so far. I've only used it on a few occasions so I don't know all its on the water characterisitics.

One tip for using fluorocarbon is to apply KVD Lure & Line when spooling it on and after use. I have found that this stuff makes fluorocarbon more user friendly and manageable.

i also read the fc showdown from tackle tour it was enterntaining. but has anyone tried or heard of lucky crafts line called iron athelete they have a flourocarbon line a mono line and i floating mono line and a braid. i would like to know how iron athletes flourocarbon compares to others.

BPS XPS Fluro for me. I may give Suffix's fluro a shot this year. It'll have to be very impressive for me to switch to it though.

BPS XPS Fluro for me. .

Same for....after unhappiness with a few of them I found my best.

12#, 14# & 17#, BPS or Pline for my casting reels. I prefer to use Gamma on my spinning reels, good combination of strength & manageablity.

I had Vanish last year and its pure GARBAGE! This season I'm using Seaguars Invizix. I hope its good.

Toray is great line; they spool for BPS.  I've heard Sunline is spooled by Toray....yes, Sunline doesn't extrude their own line.  Supposedly there are only two or three manufacturers of fluorocarbon in the world.

BPS XPS Fluorocarbon, never needed to try any others.

I second the "Vanish is garbage motion", I'd rather fish with an anchor rope
