how do I break down abu garcia revo s to clean?

Recommended Posts

I have a revo s that I got for fathers day last year. This is my first baitcaster. Per the manual it said to oil it and it shows you where to oil but not how to open the reel. I do not want to possibly harm by removing the wrong parts. also it has a adjustable centerfugal break  and would like to know how to adjust and what difference this makes to my casting

thanks for any input

remove the threaded rod at the top of the reel by turning it counterclockwise. Take off the plate with the brakes on it, and remove the spool. Remove the screws there where the spool axil goes into.

Remove the screws on the side by the hande. Remove the screw that hold the grey thingy on the hande with the emblem, and then there is a bolt there that you have to remove by turing clockwise. take the handle of and screw the drag off and you should get to the gear area after removing the drag components. To geteverything re assembled, follow the diagram in the instructions. When you thread the drag back on, you have to turn it counterclockwise on the shaft.

Not sure you can recommend what direction to turn the parts on the handle/drag components without know whether its a left or right hand retrieve :(

If you're new to this, send it to a pro, or have the manufacturer clean and lube it.

The owners manual should show you how to adjust the brakes.  Out is "on" and in towards the center is off.  Make sure there is balance in your settings.  Turn them on/off in opposite pairs, or three on, every other pin.

Random thought of the day... anyone notice that the Revo S now sells for like 30 bucks more than it did last year?

the economy in bad shape apparently isn't bringing down fishing equipment prices  >:(

Not familiar with inflation, are you?

It's also got the Xcraftic frame and HPCR bearings for 2009.
