So a friend of mine wants to get a new rod/reel for an upcoming camping trip that we'll be making and asked me to give him some advice on a rod/reel setup. I've pretty much already determined that the reel will be a Shimano Sahara 2500FD and that he'll need a 6'6" to 7'0" Medium power Fast action rod.

I guess my question to you experts out there...did I choose the correct reel and what rod would you guys recommend?

    If he wants to stick to that budget, he might look at the BPS Bionic Blade.  They were on sale a while back for about $50.
