Frog knot???

Featured Replies

Hey guys.  I am new to the board and have been gather a lot of great info from all of you.  Thanks.  I have a question that I have not been able to find the answer to on here though.  I am going to fish my sisters lake with frogs this year because the lake contains an abundant amount of lilly pads.  I plan on using 65lb. braid.  What kind of knot should I use when tying on the frog lure?

Welcome to the board.

Try a palomar knot.  It is what I use for most of my fishing.

Maybe I'm immature but I cant stop laughing about that.   :)  It just doesn't sound right for some reason.  Sorry, back on topic.  Yeah the palomar would be your best bet.  It's a very strong knot.  Do a google search for it and you will find plenty of diagrams and videos to help

When fishing frogs i use a palomar, but I go in through the eye twice, then do 2 overhand knots and finish it traditional palomar style.

Welcome to the boards!

As SPEEDBEAD said, the Palomar is what I use the majority of the time!

Thanks for putting this in the right spot fivebasslimit and thanks for all the information from everyone else.  I will be trying to catch the big boys in the lilly pads at Dewart Lake in Syracuse, IN.   Can't wait for summer vacation(I'm a PE teacher).  Good Luck to all this fishing season.

Palomar, just make sure you keep  the tag end a little longer then normal.

Try the Berkley Braid knot....

Palomar is definately one of the best all around knots (especially for braid)... hands down.   Although if this pond is very scummy / slimely, the knot is rather bulky and can gather that type of moss.  You may try something more streamline if thats the case, but be careful, that braid likes to slip out of alot of knots.
