silver thread an40...

Featured Replies

anyone tried this co-polymer? went to bps to find some yo-zuri hybrid but they were all out of 6-12# so i picked up some silver thread. way cheaper too(5.99per330yds). i plan on spooling my spinning tour pti30 for an all purpose line. just wondering if anyone likes, dislikes, cheers and jeers.

It is a really good line, but with that said the Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft is better for spinning reels. The line you got will work just fine, just be sure to treat it really well with KVD L&L.

Alton Jones won the bassmaster Classic on it, I think that it works :)

Is the yo zuri soft line pretty manageable or does it have a lot of memory?

It's pretty good line....bought some at BPS last year for 2.99 and it is well worth that....pretty strong with good abrasion resistance.

Very manageable line, very little if any memory.

I thought the Silver Thread "Excalibur" line was very similar to YZ ultra soft.

in #6, I thought the AN40 was really skinny and limp.  On the other hand, #6 YZ-US was thicker, stiffer & stronger.  For a bit more strength than #6 AN40, I prefer #6 P-Line Floroclear or 8# CX Premium.  I think these two are very manageable and still stealthy.  I'm probably going to stick with the #8 CX.  Disclosure, my experience with them is limited to just a couple spools. :)

I fished with Silver Thread YEARS AND YEARS ago and always loved it, the AN40 is a awesome line and handles really well! you cant beat it IMO and the price makes it just that much better.. Every reel I own is spooled with Powerpro or An40 on all bait casters... and 6LB an40 on my one and only spinning reel.. I will not use Fluorocarbon as I HATE IT and theres no need for it in 99% of the places i fish down here in FLA.. anyhow you will really like this line.. I never use any line treatment on this line and it casts and handles awesome on my TD-ITO ABS

i am really liking the Silverthread Excalibur in 12lb (10lb diameter) its limp and seems to be pretty good for cranks

Yeah, its good line. I used to use it on all my rods until I switched to flourocarbon.

Been using an40 for years. I like using the silver in off colored

water, & the green in clear water. The price is right too.
