Just wanted to see what you guys are using for flippin and pitchin. Also, is it true that braid will cut/ruin the guides on your rods? Is fluorocarbon good enough for these techniques?

It depends on what I'm flippin and pitchin and how heavy the cover is. If cover is light I am use my worm rod that I have spooled up with 14# Sufix Siege. I've also pitch my spinnerbaits in certain situations. I have my spinnerbait rod spooled with 17# Sufix Siege. My two true flippin sticks I have spool up with 20# Sufix Elite on the one and 50# Sufix braid. I have used 20# fluro in the past flippin and pitchin with no problems. As far as the braid cutting into the guides, I have a BPS Tourney Special spinning rod that I have spooled up with 20# Sufix braid. I've been using this setup for about 3 years now. Several times a year, I take a cotton swab on each guide to make sure there are no issues. I haven't found any cuts in the guides yet. I've heard that cheaper rods (not that the Tourney Special is expensive) that are prone to guide damage by braid. Hope that helps!

If the guides are quality, there should not be an issue.

I use 20lb fluoro now but i am always nervous when hooking a fish that it's going to break. I want to use braid on my Powell 766h Max flippin stick(on its way to me) but i don't want to ruin the rod. I think it comes with fuji guides.

You should have no issues with braids on most rods. I use anywhere from 4lb all the way up to 80lb Power Pro.  Never once have I had an issue with the guides being damaged from the line.

Trust me, your not alone! Those are my thoughts exactly. But i always feel insecure about using fluoro in nasty cover. I wish there was an invisible braid, LOL! And yes, i tried Berkley Fire Line Crystal, it sucks!!!!  >

I use 15# P-Line CX Premium or Flouroclear for just about everything, including flipping and pitching.

I have a BPS Extreme rod that has guides that were demolished by 50# Power Pro in just one or two outings with only the resistance of the bait against them.  Those are Fuji Hardloy guides and they are found on a ton of rods.  Just be careful with braid.

17lb Trilene XT. If there is a line available with better abrasion resistance that costs less (or the same) let me know and I'll try it out.

I used to fish braid a lot when it first came out and I have not destroyed any guides. I've seen pictures of some that were destroyed though, so it does happen.

I choose line (and rod and reel) based on cover.  For working heavy weed cover, 50 or 65# braid.

Braid will not hurt your rod's eyes!

If you're fishing vegetation bass can not see your braided line!

I would have to wear a glove on my left hand if i flipped with braid though,  ;D

True flippin anyways.

Quality rods have quality guides and I have never once had braid damage my guides.. however on cheapy guides i wouldnt use braid.
