$150 for 2 setups

Featured Replies

I  have $150 for the place I work for... I want to get two setups... A 7ft spinning that I can use jigs, senkos, and tubes with and then a 6.5 or 7ft casting rod to use t-rig tubes, spinnerbaits, cranks, and jigs.

What do you guys recommend for the two setups?

$150 for two complete setups or just the rods?

$75 for a complete setup is not very much at all...

id spend the $150 on a decent set up and save up for another...

with $150 id get a shimano sahara 2500 and decent rod. maybe shimano, fenwick, st croix or falcon. ive never used powell rods but i heard theyre pretty good.

Buy one rig for the $150 you have and then save $150 for a different one. A Shimano Sahara on a St. Croix Mojo Bass would be a good spinning rig for around $150.

k, I need the spinning rod more.. So Im thinkin about getting a Fenwick Eagle GT series 7ft Medium and a shimano slade spinning reel. I just need a new setup up... I cant stand the Quantum Triforce X I use. lol

Im also going to get a shimano Callisto. And maybe some pline flouroclear(anyone have a opinion about it?) and a falcon hook and weight box and some other stuff I need.  ;D

good choice on getting one quality set up, this is going to make you exponentially happier in the long run rather than buying 2 lower quality set ups. I know you'll end up being happy with the set up best of luck!

Yeah just get one, quality before quantity. I learned the hard way, I had 2 $75 set ups, and they were just a hassle and were not as good. If I could do it over I would have bought one good set up at $200.

The next thing to decide is line!!!

I cant decide between:

-Silver Thread 8lb in green

- Pline Floroclear in 8lb in 600yds

I get em both at wholesale  ST is $3.10 for 300yds and Pline is $10 for 600yds!

I'll be fishing jigs, senkos, spinnerbaits, and some other smaller things!

P-Line no doubt...didn't care for the Silver thread and now fish pretty much all P-Line...also look into CXX, it's super strong

Remember that Floroclear is not flourocarbon line. I am no expert, but I believe it is just coated. With that said, I do use it and have had moderate success. I am only using it on one reel this year and I will stick to Yo Zuri or Trilene 100% from here on out.

You got a nice selection of soft plastics that should suit you well. Sweet Beavers and Senkos alone have probably been the most productive for me. You could also add Baby Brush Hogs as well. Good luck man.

Do you know how many sweet beavers are in a pack?

I'm thinking the 4.20 means 4inchers in a 20 pack?
