hi eveyone. i'm having a little problem with my revo. technically, its the drag on the reel. with the drag cranked all the way up, i'm still able to strip line off as if it's set on low. this happened after one use, and after being completely serviced. i'm at a lost here. any advice will be appreciated. thanks

If it's new, exchange it.  If it's not, send it to the Reel Mechanic or Pure Fishing to have it serviced right.

No chance you have it loaded up with braid?

As someone else mentioned, it could be braid slipping if that is what you have.

Whoever serviced it may have added grease to the drag washers as well.  I am sure someone will correct me otherwise but I believe the Revo's use dry drag washers and greasing them will result in a loss of total drag power.

When i opened my brand new SX for service it had oil on the washers! I cleaned them and left them dry and it performs fine!

Sounds like braided line without a backer...If it were oil on the pads they all would have to have oil on them, and there wouldn't be any drags at all with that much oil..

I don't think he sent it to me (heck I don't use oil on reels anyway, just bearings), anyway I can't find any reference to his reel in my files.

I am curious as to who he sent it too

no i'm not using braid and the reel was serviced locally.  i'm assuming the drag had been greased...

If you have been in the reel before, or not nervous about opening it up.  

Then I would go back into the reel and re-move the crank stack. Remove the drag pads from the main gear, and only wipe them off (including the metal disk's) real good, then re-stack and re-assemble. You should have drags, I would NOT soak those drag pads..

Also make sure when you re-stack that you place the drag spring washers in the proper orientation  ... ()

thanks to everyone for the replys, i'll give them a try and see how everything turns out. ;D on a different note, does anyone know how i can test out my drag pressure. i want to see if my reel produces the 24# it's rated.

use a scale (fish scale).

i apologize, but how would i go about using the fish scale to test out my reel?

Mount the reel on the rod run the line out the guides, tie up the scale to the tag line.. Then run a loop around a tree trunk or heavy (that takes two to lift) log and hook the scale to it. With the rod at a fighting 45° angle lift and have someone read the scale. Repeat tightening the drags each time and repeat until you have the drag star turned tight (without a wrench).
