Anyone Use Curado 3.8:1 For Crankin

Featured Replies

Thinking about picking up a 3.8:1 for deep crankin. Anyone have experience with it?

no.  but it should work fine.  ;)

I had one and sold it. This thing will wear you out but great for deep diving baits.

I have one.  Still use it once in a while for really hard pulling deep cranks. eg. Mann's 20+ or 30+, Reef Runner Ripsticks.

I have found that a 200DHSV is more comfortable for most cranks.

I used to have one too it works great but it is alot of cranking on a long cast with a dd22 sold it now use a 5 to 1 works just as well

I bought one several years ago because it sound perfect for deep cranking. The ratio was to low for me as I would have to crank much faster than I was comfortable with. A 5:1 reel works better for me even with the Hot lips, 20+ and 30+'s and a breeze with the DD22's. The 4.7:1 David Fritts model that BPS sells is near the perfect ratio for me but I have grown to dislike this reel because it just doesn't feel right. I am currently looking at the Revo winch and the 5:1 Ardent. Will probably settle for the Ardent due to extra casting distance.

I do, and not only for crankbaiting, for slow rolling spinnerbaits.

Yup have one (CU201B38), that is what is was built for (deep cranking). It just sits looking good now (even have the 5.1:1 gear set for it), don't throw cranks anymore.... ;)
