whats the best and or most reliable knot to use with braid

Featured Replies

what is the best type of knot to tie when using braid and a 1oz or heavier tungsten weight for flipping? i was told to use a snell knot to keep the weight from cutting the line, but i wouldnt think this should be and issue with 50lb braid

I use the double Palomar knot and have landed 8lbers with no issues! Just be sure to leave plenty of tag on the knot because it will slip on a hard pulling fish!

I've been using the San Diego Jam knot for everything.  Hasn't failed me yet.

Do a search for braid knots, I guarantee the majority use the palomar not no matter what

I use the improved clinch and haven't had an issue.   Most people use the palomar knot though.  I've broken hooks, bent snaps (supposed 30lb snaps on 30lb braid) and hauled in branches so I think most quality knots used will work, just some people more confident in some knots than others.

I tend to swim upstream against the current.  I use only braid and use only 2 knots.  Tie them right, they should not fail.

Standard cinch knot 8-9 twists, lures my own version of a loop knot.

I will singe the tag line, better than glue for slipage.

I use the 16/20 with 5 wraps for braid and mono.  No slip problems ever.
