Deal on Carrot Stix

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to give a heads up, that anybody that lives around Dayton/Cincinnati area looking to buy a Carrot Stix should head to Dixie Marine.  Not sure how they do it but they are the cheapest place I have seen.

Regular LTX: $129.99

Gold Series: $169.99

Duckett Classic Gold:$209.99

Wish I would have seen these before buying two from BPS.   :'(

If your purchase was recent, see if BPS will price match...it's worth a shot.  Johnny Millionaire has deep pockets.

Man....I was just in Cincy for a Reds game on Sat.   ;)

Kinda glad though....I don't need another rod....well, I do but I'm gonna get specific colors for the next few to match some reels and the Carrot Stix don't match them.

Carrot Gold Stix cost ~$119 wholesale........they are still making $50.

Matt

And your point is?

Dealers have to eat as well.

I guess I didn't realize I was going to offend folks............

Burley, I am in the retail tackle trade.

I won't "spout off" any more.

I'm not offended.  If you are 'in the trade', I find myself wondering why you feel it necessary to post such information.  That information is usually kept hush-hush.

Thats what I don't understand.........why there is so much secrecy about prices..........I think most folks understand that the dealer needs to make a buck and will do so.  At our store we are upfront with people about things like this and a lot of our regulars respect us for it.

Guess I'm weird

Rods and reels and apparel are really all that Dealers make money on. They definantly don't make anything on lures.

If people know what the retailer is paying for the item, then they are sure to think, 'why should I pay him $XX when he only paid $X for it?'

As stated above, rods and reels are the only true profit centers for a tackle retailer.  There sure as hell isn't much markup on lures (soft plastics especially).
