A little line help...

Featured Replies

For the most part I have always used mono line for my topwater lures usually in 14 lbs. test.

When it comes to the rest of my reels, they are usually lined with 12-14# fluro for cranks, spinnerbaits, and all my pitching and flipping.

I am curious though, what is the unwritten rule of using which line in each condition. I've never really learned much about lines before, and have so far had decent luck with doing what I described above.

There are no real rules or unwritten rules. It is basically use what you are comfortable with. I know a lot of guys who use fluorocarbon for everything except top water, they use mono instead. I know a lot of guys who use braid for everything and then there are guys who use copolymer for everything.

I use copolymer and fluorocarbon. I have fluorocarbon on my spinning setup and one bc setup and have copolymer on my other 2 bc setups.

I'd say adclem nailed it.

In my case it's braided line for everything.
