anybody here use ''evolution'' by p-line , and is it strong as cxx ??? i like the smoke silver color , the lake i fish at is pretty much crystal clear . i want to try 20 and 25 # tests . i would appreciate it if i can get responses from people who have used both , thanks

so how is the strength of the ''evolution'' , cause if it is near the strenth of ''cxx'' , i can jump up a test in the evolution since it is ALOT thinner in dia. than cxx . cxx in 25 # is .020 dia. (.50mm) compared to the evolution in 25# is .0176 dia. (.44mm) so if i can get a comparision of the two , that would be very helpful in terms of strength .

I haven't used Evolution, but I can guarantee that it is not as strong as CXX.

The only thing stronger than PLine CXX is steel cable.

i'll take your word for it , gonna have to try 25# cxx , but would still love to have feedback on evolution about if it is very strong .  

I use p line floroclear 20# for kingfish and bonita, never had line failure , stuff is very strong.  I use this line for off shore fishing, I had cxxx, didn't care for it.

20 or 25# test seems like a lot of overkill for freshwater.

i had another topic about cxx and yo-zuri hybrid and there was mentioning of big swimbaits , thought that people would make the assumtion . should have mentioned it !!   have you used evolution line ???

I have used both in 12lb....evolution is ok but cxx is the line you want when you need strength. I use 20lb cxx for swimbaits but don't really throw anything heavier than 2-3 oz at the most. The managability of cxx is larger sizes is lacking but I would rather give that up than a chance at a lost bait or fish. I like evolution but I like floro-clear better, in smaller sizes but wouldn't trade my cxx for anything.

I used Evolution and so did my fishing partner. We had this line break on hook sets, both of us. We compared lot numbers to see if we had a bad lot, both were different. We sent e-mails to P-Line to see what their take was on it and never received a response. he only reason we even tried it was CXX was so outstanding. This is my only experience with Evolution, which was a bad one, I will never use again unless I hear other folks positive usage which to date I have not really heard much about. I would recommend CXX

I know many people that are iffy about the moss green, if you are one of those people then this is gonna be a good choice.  I use both without any difference but my lakes are green stained water.  It can be hard to find though, the moss green cxx and flourescent cx are the most common around here.

i guess it's back to giving cxx another chance , this time i'll try 25 # . i guess i just wanted to have the line in smoke color , since i love Izorline smoke colored line .. thanks for all the feedback  

little update , i just spooled my REVO TORO with 25 # P-line cxx and was hucking a SPRO BBZ-1 8'' SLOW SINKER  a good 60-70 yards on thursday night , i had zero problems with the line   so i guess i'm sold on the P-line for swimbaits , you never know , i might try some 10 or 12 lb. cxx on my REVO SX  :

Are you using the large diameter mono to lessen the depth that the lure is being presented? If not, a superline in the same strength rating, giving you a smaller diameter, would be a better choice if the strength rating is what is the primary need is. With the L-O-N-G casts you mention coupled with the large hooks on big swimbaits, the very low stretch of a superline would be even more appropriate.

the lake i fish at is very clear , so i don't want to go with braid , plus i would have to use 80 # braid wich is very heavy and i wouldn't get as good of casts with it . i dead stick the swimbaits alot , so line visibility is a issue and i think the CXX in moss green is the ticket . beleive me , i'm a big lover of braid , if i could use it effectively for this application i would , plus the ''no-stretch'' factor with braid will break me off if i happen to get a backlash , wich in my opinion , happens more with braid .
