Looking to purchase one for the wife. The rod will be paired with a 2500 Stradic. Anybody own one that can give opinions.  Looking for a all purpose rod to do allot of things like throw grubs,small jigs,  senko shad rap etcc. Maybe even scholling stripers. Don't know if the 783 will be too stiff with no tip or the 782 to light.

The SJR783 is G. Loomis' most popular spinning rod. Your wife

will like everything about it. The 783 is far more versatile than

the 782.

here's another opinion,why don't you look at the mossy back series,in the 6ft8inch size,I have one and I am told it's the same material as imx,it's very sensitive and your wife might like the look of the rod as far as the blank,I had a sjr-782 imx and caught a 6lb plus bass on it and it had plenty of backbone!   junebugmn

The mossyback, while a fine rod, is NOT the same blank material as the IMX series. I agree with RW - the 783 is a great all purpose spinning rod that can do alot. It's not "too stiff" but has enough backbone to handle strong fish and will pair up nicely with the Stradic 2500.

For "ocassional schooling stripers" forget about the 782.

Hi I have a G Loomis rod don't know much about it was wondering if anybody knew anything about it and how much it's worth it is a SJR782.20 medium fast action 6 ft 6 in it is gl3 and it has slide guides instead of a fixed reel seat does anybody know anything about this G loomis?
