Abu Garcia Revo S

Featured Replies

Looking to getting this baitcast reel, just wanted some input from you guys that own or have used one.

Looking for the one w/ the X-Craftic frame, is there a way to tell which one of the Revo S from last year to this year has the X-Craftic frame?

How does it perform compared to other brand of reels around the same price....Citica E?

Best uses or is it an all around type of reel?

I love the whole line of Revos.. i own 2 STX's and an S... the S in my opinion performs just as good as the STX.. its very smooth and once its set up correctly with your lure weight, it performs flawless.  Ive uses it pitching, flipping, casting, skipping, it just gets the job done..  i have the older model so it doesnt have the xcraftic frame..  but im sure it really wont be that big of a difference..

If you dont feel like spending the 200 dollars on a higher end revo or a curado or something i would definately recommend the Revo S

get the revo s , a much more solid of reel . you will love the centrifugal brakes . a very good all-around reel . can be had on ebay for 98.00 + free shipping , heres the link = http://cgi.ebay.com/ABU-GARCIA-NEW-2009-REVO-S-RH-BAITCAST-REEL_W0QQitemZ180413509281QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2a017baea1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

i own the older black revo (i think it's the sx model) reel. it hasn't let me down once yet.

I have an S and an SX.  Like the S better as it is not quite as finicky.  I have 3 brakes on and set the tension knob and I am good to go.  It is tough as nails, smooth and I can throw stuff a good lick.  The SX on the other hand needs a bit more tweaking with the the mag brake knob and once you find a good setting, you need to leave it.  I have made the mistake of loosening the tension or the mag brake a bit trying for a bit more distance and . . . you guessed it - industrial strength overrun.  In its defense though, when the SX is set up right, it becomes fool proof and I can cast for hours with out an upset.  Just need some patience and concentration for the first 10 casts or so with a little adjustments here and there depending on what I see during the cast.

Go for it.

I just bought an STx today. Walmart has the revo s for $89 with free site to store shipping.

I also think that the 2009 S's have a different break "mechanism". Still centrifugal, but they call it the Pitch Centrifugal Breaking System.
