i decided to up grade my pflueger medalist 4000 size spinning reel to a pflueger supreme 3500 spinning reel so i ordered it from bass pro shops.should be here early next week.i love pflueger reels.the main reason for the upgrade is the medalist weighs 14.2 oz and the supreme weighs 8.8 oz.i only own one spinning rod and i wanted to lighten it up to where my baitcasters are.being i like bigger spinning reels magnesium was the way to go.

My son and I both have a Plueger Supreme (not the XT) spinning reels that we purchased this year. Seem to be pretty nice reels for the price. However the weak link in the Supreme line seems to be the bail spring. After one month of use, the bail spring on my son's reel broke... mines been fine.

Plueger was quick to send a replacement spring (and I picked up a couple extras).

Anyhow, something to keep an eye on.

That reel has tempted me more than once.  Haven't pulled the trigger yet.

i learned years ago to close the bail by hand on any spinning reel.

As do we whenever possible. Probably just a defective spring... we'll see.

as far as bails go i think quantum has the best idea yet with thier magnetic bail trip.no spring to ever break.

x2

I've been eyeballin' it for a while now, but I'm actually looking to thin out my spinning rig collection so I've got a couple rods for sale. They only way I could justify buying one is if I sold one of my Symetres...but I seriously doubt that'll happen.  :)

Order it sight unseen ? I had the supreme xt  in my hands a couple of times, just didn't like it, then I played with the supreme non xt and I liked it better, so I bought the non xt 30 &35 and they are ok, but not a stradic.  Just can't see why the xt is $ 30 more.  I have a medalist and I think it's a far better reel, smoother and well built, mine is 3 years old used in saltwater and it's like new(smoother than my stradic), but it is a little heavy.

i agree with you on that one dodge......

yet i have never owned one of the quantum's.....(thought about a boca or cabo for a while, but never ended up going through with it)

just played with them in the stores, and they seem great in that respect.

I just bought a boca 30 a few weeks ago, great deal closeout $64(never pay retail  :)), but it's strictly a saltwater reel and heavy for most at over 13 oz, it's an excellent reel so far and I like it.  I wouldn't recommend anything until I've used it at least 6 months.

Better drag system , stronger bail , more bearings.

I bought one Pflueger Supreme (8035), because I wanted a lighter reel and I also wanted a fast spinning reel (the supreme has a ratio of 6.2:1).  After some time with it, I ended up buying 6 more and changed out all of my spinning reels to the Supreme.  I haven't had a problem with one yet and highly recommend them.

Great reels.  I like Pflueger for my spinning reels.  I have an 8025 for my drop shot set up and a 9035 for draggin tubes.
