New Reel

Featured Replies

I have a Daiwa Procaster, heavy, 1/4-1 1/2 oz lure, 17-30lb line and looking for a baitcaster reel. Any suggestions? This rod is sort of old, but I am buying a decent reel and giving it away to a friend who recently lost a leg in the army. After coming back, he never goes out and living on a limited budget. So I took him out for fishing, and he really enjoyed it. But, my wife only gives me a budget of 100 bucks to get him a set(lure, rod, reel, etc). So, any suggestions will help guy, thx. I really appreciated it. :D

You could check around the flea market for a used citica. Also I have a Pflueger Trion and it seems to work well.

Actually, I did checked out the flea market here and someone had a curado for sale. But he wants 170 for it, I think that reel goes for 170 new. If it is like 120 or something, I might talk my wife into buying it...ohh well.

I don't mean to undermine anyone that is trying to sell used equipment.  True the seller sets the market, but the true value is what the buyer is willing to pay.  Especially with a reel, however "new" it may be, it is still used mechanical apparatus with wearable parts, with little or no warranty time left.  My top price for any used reel is no more than 50% msrp, without exception.

If were talking of the same reel, it has been upgraded with a carbon fiber handle and different bearings, if Im not mistaken, the handle alone is around $100

It was a curoda 200 E7, it does comes with all the original box and manual. The guy who is selling it seems to be a big time fisherman. He had at least 10 shimano, and few rods at that garage sale.

Lee, I have reel for your buddy. if you can wait a few days for it, that is.

It's a Quantum Energy PT770. I removed the spool bearings for use in a different reel. I've ordered new bearings from Quantum. The weekend after they arrive, I can get the reel cleaned and lubed, and the new bearings installed.

I'm working about 70 hours a week right now, so there is no time during the week for anything other than work, sleep and drive.

Let me know if you want it.

Cheers,

GK

GK,

Actually, shortbasser has offered me a older daiwa reel for my bud. I am grateful that he made that offer, and it free up my funds to buy him lures, line, etc. Thank you again GK.
