G Loomis 853

Featured Replies

Thinking about buying a g loomis 853   Was wondering if that rod will work for throwing jigs around some structure but not heavy grass. I usually use a 3/8 ounce jig maybe a bit heavier now and then. Mostly pitching to docks and rocks. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Hersh

IMHO I think that you should step up to a 4 power for jigs around any kind of structure. I feel that the 853 would be alright for finesse jigs (5/16 and under) in open water, but for anything over that I felt that mine was a little under powered.

I own the BCR854.

For jigs, it is the ONE!.
