Loomis question

Featured Replies

I have a chance to buy a G Loomis MBR844C GL3 used for about half the price of new, any body tell me what this would be good for? I 'm in need of a shallow crank bait rod

or spinnerbait rod. what do you think?

I've never had any experience with this rod but use mostly all G Loomis rods and love them.  Here is the description from Tackle Warehouse on what this rod is good for.

MBR844C GL3, Line Weight: 12-20 lbs. Fast Action. Another versatile rod, the 844 may be the perfect jig rod and casts spinnerbaits like a dream. Great where there is more cover or deep water situations.

Hope this helps.

I suppose if you were throwing a bait like a RC 3.5 in heavy cover with 20lb line, the 844 would be a reasonable choice as a shallow crankbait rod ;D  It does make a very good big spinnerbait rod though.  Larger jigs, football jigs, buzz frogs, c-rigs... it's a good "all purpose" heavier action rod.  Seriously though, not a great choice for most common shallow cranking techniques.

Keep an eye on our Flea Market for great deals.

There is no reason to waste money on something

you don't really want regardless of the "value".
