Hey guys i was wandering what yalls thoughts where if graphite rods can kinda loose its sensivty after time and how long does it take,

They can last a life time if taken proper care of.

I don't keep them long enough to worry about it.

I keep mine forever. I have not seen any degrading of performance of rods that I've had for 15+ years.

If you abuse them they will eventually encounter problems. Otherwise they should last a lifetime.

Uhhh, nope, I don 't think rods "go bad" over time if well stored, I got this quite old Berkley Lightining Rods I purchased in the mid 80 's and they are sensitive as they were back then when I purchased them.

Not sure if this is a stupid question, but if taken care of properly what about it would even make it lose its sensitivity?

Same here... even have a few cheapo Kmart/walmart special rods that have never had a problem.

I buy rods that hold up. GLOOMIS

I sored a fiberglass rod with a big bend in it and it caused a permanent curve in the rod. Graphite, never.

When not in use, keep them out of sunlight. 

While I assume they have UV inhibitors in the resins, over time, the UV rays will break down most, if not all plastics.

Probably not in our lifetime however.

proper care ?  do you store rods in the bag? the rod bag in plastic?  wax the rod /guides?  what does house dust do over time?  will EVA/ cork dry out and crack, to prevent this?

I find reels much easier.
