my friend is offering me a great deal on a SMR752S-SP. i was thinking of using it for small jerk baits and maybe skipping small plastics.

how sensitive are the non-glx bronzeback rods? how do they compare to avid or imx?

I have that rod, and 750, and the 811.  The 752 is a killer rod for med plastics, skipping docks and that sort of thing.  It has plenty of power, but is still soft enough to provide a little insurance against being heavy handed in those situations.  I love it, too, for small minnow baits.

My partner fishes a Bronzeback which I have used

occasionally. I think the tip is too soft and whippy

for most lures, but will probably work fine for your

intended purpose. Why don't you fish it before buying?

i dont think i'll be able to test it out, he's driving up this wkend and probably won't have time to fish. i'm going to tell him to go ahead and bring it. several people have told me its a mix of gl3 and imx and if thats true it should be a good deal.

its funny you mentioned whippy and soft because i was told this rod had a very fast taper and was good for soft plastics. do you remember which model you tried and thought was soft? there seems to be alot of differences between the different bronzeback models.

I've fished the 822 and it's a different beast entirely than the shorter rods in the series.  I'd agree with RW that the 6'10" model is indeed pretty soft.  The 752 is a much better rod for tubes, provided we aren't talking 5" Craw tubes.
