which baitcaster?

Featured Replies

i have been looking for a new baitcaster for my rod that my Dad got me, and it looks like my budget is about $130. i know there are alot of baitcasters in this range but what do yall think is best? i really like the daiwa tierra and the shimano citica. but i know there are reels like the bps brand and the revo s.

thanks for all of yall's help!

GOD BLESS

You can find the Citica for ~$100, I have heard great things about this reel though I have never used one. My advice would be to save a few more dollars and pick up a Curado E7, which can usually be found for ~$145 new. I have one of these and it is an excellent all around reel for the price.

Hands down, Shimano Citica 200e.

I 've got a bunch of some of the finest reels you can buy with your money ( TDZs, Chronarchs, Alphas n 'such ), my wife gave me a Citica E as Xmas present and let me tell you ... what a fine reel for 120 dollars, heck it 's a lot better than my trusty old Curados B which cost the same back then.

So Citica E is what I recommend.

+1.  I own both and they're excellent reels at this price point, but the Curado is hard to beat at $145.  I would go with that.

Shimano Citica 200e. Great reel for $119.99, an extremely great reel for the price of $95 as some eBay sellers are asking. Aqua Superstore also has some great prices.

Abu Garcia Revo S would be a good reel too but isn't a good all-around reel, IMO it's more suited for flippin'/heavy jig/froggin'.

You won't regret the citica.
