  1. Could be a problem with the pawl. But I'm not a reel mechanic so I can't really tell you.
  2. Plastics: 7.1:1, 7' MH rod, 14lb line. Plastics (again): 6.3:1, 7' M rod - 12lb line. Spinnerbait: 6.2:1, 7' MH rod - 17lb line. Crankbaits (Shallow): 5.0:1, 6' 6" or 7' M rod, 12lb line. Crankbaits (deep): 5.0:1 (deep spool), 7' MH rod, 14lb line. Jig: 6.2:1, 7' MH rod, 14lb or 17lb line. Multi-Purpose: 5.0:1, 7' MH rod, 14lb line. It would have been better if you had one less slow reel. Is the multi-purpose going to be used a lot or just a back-up? It's going to be a little slow to throw anything but Cranks, Jigs, & Plastics...
  3. I say you get a BPS Pro Qualifier 5.4:1 with a 7' M BPS Crankin' Stick. A perfect cranking set-up, IMO. But if you'd rather get the Lew's reel, pairing it up with any 7' M rod will due. I prefer a composite or full glass rod though for Cranks. Check out the Crankin' Stick's (not sure what material they're made of..)
  4. Revo S and 7' 6" H rod for Pitching/Flipping. Shimano Citica and 7' MH rod for Spinnerbaits. Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier and 7' M rod for Crankbaits. Pflueger Asaro and 7' MH rod for Jigs/Worm. Pick up another Revo S with a 7' H rod for Frogs..
  5. Since the Advantage is a low-profile reel, I'd assume it casts lighter stuff better. Pair it up with the 6' rod and spool it with 12lb mono. For the C3, get a 7' MH rod and spool it with 14 or 15lb mono.
  6. I agree with everyone else, a BPS Crankin' Stick 7' M or MH (depending on Crank size) with a 5.3:1 Pro Qualifier.
  7. for poppers and such i look for something around 6' medium. something with give so i won't rip the treble's out too easy. for buzzbaits i like something around 6'6 or 7' medium with a fast tip so i get a good hookset. a flimsier medium/heavy rod seems to work too. for spooks and other larger topwaters, a 6' to 6'6 medium/heavy rod works fine.
  8. The RCX is a little too heavy for my tastes..
  9. $175 for a Shimano Citica matched with a BPS Bionic Blade is a good deal: http://www.basspro.com/Shimano-Citica-E-Reel/Bass-Pro-Shops-Bionic-Blade-Rod-Baitcast-Combos/product/102965/-1538361 $180 for a Pflueger Supreme http://www.basspro.com/Pflueger%C2%AE-Supreme%C2%AE-Spinning-Reels/product/94739/-1332209 matched with an All Star rod http://www.basspro.com/All-Star-Team-All-Star-Spinning-Rods/product/51845/-1014808
  10. That reel would do fine.. I'd probably choose a Citica though. For the rod, a Falcon BuCoo would be great.
  11. I see you've already ordered it/going to order it.. but I'm still gonna throw my opinion in. The Core doesn't hold a lot of line, and you probably don't need a lot of line since you're going to do mainly Flipping/Pitchin', but I'd still want something bigger with more line capacity. The Revo Premier with 20lbs of drag fit the bill. It would have been my choice. Enjoy your Core..
  12. The REVO S has internal brakes, remember that. I'd go SX/BuCoo.
  13. Nope. Sufix Siege or Trilene XT in 10lb for Pop-R's, 17lb for Spooks, and 14lb for both.
  14. Yeah, that sounds good. The Ci4 is a very light reel and would work great with plastics.
  15. There's quite a few quality 7' L and ML rods on the market.
  16. If you're going to do a lot of Wacky Worming, I'd consider a Spinning reel over a Baitcaster. Because Spinning reels have no resistance on the cast, leading into less Senko's being ripped from the hook during a cast. If you're doing T-rigs then a Baitcaster would be better. Wacky-Worming a lot? Shimano Symetre SY2500FJ ($99.99) with a St. Croix Avid Series, 7' MH rod ($189.99) and 10lb Seaguar InvisX fluorocarbon.
  17. Finesse fishing? That's what they made SOL's, Pixy's, and Curado 50E's for.
  18. Pflueger President combo is around $80 new. These are good reels and the rods are decent. Pass on the Ugly Stik. They don't have much use in the Bass fishing world, although they make a decent Crankbait rod. But a damned $7 Shakespeare rod would make a good Crankin' rod.
  19. Wait before you purchase the Pro Qualifier, if you do purchase it. They regularly go on-sale for the same price as the Extreme ($79.99). One of these paired with a 7' M Crankin' Stick would be nice. $150? Curado E5! You can find them on eBay for $145. It would be the absolute best reel choice for under $150.
  20. Believe it or not, a push-button Spincast reel can be great for dock skipping. One of the Omega Z03's with a 5'6 or 6' "pistol-gripped" rod would be my first choice for a dock-skipping rod. There's a few mid-range rods like the BPS Bionic Blade that come in pistol-grip.
  21. I saw it too. I wouldn't pay $200 for a Quantum reel. IMO, they are horrible reels. For that same price, slightly more or cheaper, you could get a Curado, HSTA, REVO STX, or Pflueger Patriarch. Those are very good reels.
