This weekend im going to be getting either a revo sx or revo stx. Ive done some research and i cant really find the big difference between the two. What more am i paying for with the stx? Also, different reel suggestions are welcome if you want to try and change my mind

Im very happy with my sx and dont miss my e7's at all. I find the mag control easier to fine tune than the older style stx was. Its the only reel I can say I havent backlashed.

ok here we go i ended up jumping on the revo band wagon and they are no where near the quality as my shimanos i bought the revo s and won the revo sx(worst reel ive ever owned) and the revo stx. its funny the baseline revo s is the best out of all of them. but if i was you i would really look into the shimano core series they are the best and out performed any reel ive ever owned 

i have the 2009 SX and it is my favorite reel , i feel i have total control with it when making long casts which this reel does superbly !!!! if i were you i would get the SX 

i dont think the new sx has the dual braking and the spool has a 1pc spool shaft, i think the stx has 2 like a daiwa. id say see if TW has a memorial day sale and get an stx.... ..... or and E7 ...

well ive owned an s ,sx, winch, and an stx for about 3 days.  broke one of the paddles on the handle on a hookset.  bad luck i guess.  The sx is the best casting reel out of all of them that i own.  i mainly keep a fluke on this reel because it is ridiculous just how far it will throw it.  for the money i would buy another sx.

take a look at the curado. very comfortable reel.

The SX definitely casts lighter and more wind resistant baits, better than my E7's did.  Flukes, 1/4 buzzbaits, Slug-go's. 

I love both of them. My SX is a great reel. Don't waste your money on a Core, get the SX and you will love it. The only difference between the SX and STX is the internal gears. I could be wrong though.

Yeah I have an STX, and it's no where near as good as my Daiwa Steez. I would definitely get the Steez instead.

haha but seriously though, I do have an STX, and I have no complaints. I would say as long as you are not planning on casting really light baits, the STX is a fine reel. It has a heck of a drag too.

Again, the only difference I know of is the "infini spool," or whatever they call it. The SX has the traditional spool which has a spool shaft that runs through the pinion gear. With the STX, the spool rides on two bearings. It has a stationary pinion shaft. (I hope I'm saying this right.) Some would say it's a design "borrowed" from Daiwa and their "free floating spool."

My son who tournament fishes really likes the Revos because they fit his hand so well. For whatever reason, I know he actually prefers the SX.

the $30 difference gets you:

dual (magnetic and centrifugal) braking

infini II spool (as already mentioned)

TiN wormshaft (whatever that means)

everslik coated pinion shaft and pawl

interestingly, all 11 bearings in the SX are HPCR while the STX has 10 stainless steel bearings and only one HPCR bearing. plus, the SX is much better looking with the slick black paint job. however, i've had SXs before and didn't like the mag brakes on them...i just got an STX and am looking forward to using it.

I already have a STX and like it quite a bit, I think my next purchase will be the SX after reading what you guys have been saying.

that's actually a really strong point about the stx's i noticed right off the bat. it'll cast a weightless fluke a mile into the wind
