More line on one side?

Featured Replies

Well, I spooled up my new revo s this morning with 50lb power pro, and when I got finished I noticed the line is spooling more on the left side than the right?  Removed the line from the reel, took it back and exchanged it.  Just got home, spooled it up again and the same thing again?  There is more line on the left side of the spool than the right.  Am I not doing something right or do I keep getting defective reels? lol.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Lots of times you have to help the line spool on evenly by applying side pressure as you are winding the line on.

I have had that problem before and I did what Jig Man said you have to apply side pressure to help keep the line going on evenly.

Later, :)

I know this may sound dumb but what is this side pressure you speak of? lol.

What I do when my line is pilling up on one side more than the other, I grab the line in front of the reel and hold it over to the side that is lower and just reel it on. It works very good.

Thanks for the help guys, I pulled the power pro off and got it on nice and even now.  Hopefully tomorrow morning I can hit the water and try out all these new frogs I have lol.

If you still have a problem tomorrow, disengage the clutch and drag a lure back behind the boat...something with some drag.  Reel in normally, and that should solve your problem.

Could be the reel itself. I have seen where if the worm gear is dirty, has any debris on or in the grooves, or not cleaned and lubed properly, this issue. Also, probably not the case if this is a new reel, but a worn worm gear paw can do this also.
