New connecting knot for braid & fluorocarbon...
I would no trust using the Albright knot or any knot for that matter when you cinch it down that tight. The braid is going to cut right through the fluoro with it that tight. Also if you didn't hear he specifically said "If your line breaks it will be at the knot."

What to throw when ?
Baby Bass colored fluke! They will always hit a fluke when they are chasing baitfish or fry.

how upset do you get when you lose a fish?
If I loose 1 then I don't get mad unless it is in a tourny and I go to lift it in the boat and shakes off in the air. If I keep missing fish after fish then I can get pretty mad. When I do loose a couple fish then i start to fish even harder and will do whatever it takes to catch that fish.

Bird on the end of your line?
I was burning a swimbait once and a loon came darting through the water to get it. Seeing that loon underwater almost made me crap myself.

Jig on straight braid?
If I am not fishing in clear water or around any rocks then I will use straight braid.

Shimano vs. Abu Garcia
If you are going to get a Quantum then you need to get a reel from the PT series if you want a quality reel that is going to last you a while.

Shimano vs. Abu Garcia
Yes it is the PT version.

Shimano vs. Abu Garcia
I am telling you thatt you should get the 08 Quantum Accurist if you want a quantum http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-QUANTUM-ACCURIST-PT-AC501PT-REEL-NIB-Great-Reel-/260639555956?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3caf540174

jig with brush hog as trailer
I prefer to use a baby brush hog as a trailer for my jigs. I sometimes use a brush hog but I cut it in half so it isn't near as big.

Are you one of the lucky Pinnacle Tournament Class Perfecta Rod Winners?
If you don't get confirmation back from one of them then I would gladly take theirs

Shimano vs. Abu Garcia
If you are only looking for sponsorships because you want some sweet deals on gear then you are in for a wild ride! What sponsors really want form you is to promote their product in a professional manner. As for the reels i choose niether because I would go with BPS for less expensive baitcasters becuase of the Pro Q's. I would also go with quantum too because of their accurist reels which are great. You can find the old accurist on ebay for as low as $30 new.

fishing muddy water
Most fish will be in shallow water and really tight to cover. I would slow roll a black/blue chatterbait right next to the cover and also try pitching black/blue jigs to the cover as well. Make sure it is a bulky jig with a trailer that is going to cause a lot of water displacement to help the fish find it.

Carolina Rigs?
Use the SK 3X line of plastics. They float very well.

Like to flip?
I have 2 Pro Q in 7.1:1 that I flip with and a Pflueger Supreme 6.3:1 that i also flip with.

top water when it counts
Why would you take the chance of not catching some of the fish in an area just because you are afraid of missing some. You don't miss all the fish that strike topwaters. If you do miss one then just throw a senko to the spot that you missed it and 90% of the time you will catch it.

Double Texas Rig Is Here People.
That looks like it would be killer when dragging worms on the bottem. It would suck fishing it in real heavy cover though.

Anti fishing
I can relate 100% to the idiotic teenage wake boarders. I just got back from a trip from Minnesota and this same set of wake boarders came and they were constantly antagonizing me. One time when I was crossing the lake I looked and they had a safe passage to go behind me and it looked like they were going to take that way past me. Then they make a sharp turn and cut right in front of me so I killed the motor. If I didn't kill the motor I would have hit them because with the motor off we came within 5 yds of each other. Later that day when I was fishing a spot the same boat comes really close to me again but they are pulling a wake boarder behind them. Well the wake boarder decided he was going to be funny and spray me. >

spinner baits and trailers?
I always use a trailer on my spinnerbaits when I am fishing muddy water. I use a brush hog in black/red or blue flake to bulk it up and give off more vibration.
-
Hook size vs. plastic size ?
A 2/0 or 3/0 hook is perfect for 4in. worms while a 3/0 or 4/0 hook is good for 7in. worms

what is your setup for a buzzbait?
It depends on what cover I am fishing. If I am in light cover I will fish it on a 6'9" M cranking Carrot Stick. If it is in heavy cover I go with a 7' MH Pro Qualifier rod. I also use a 6'9" MH Vendetta sometimes too.

Abu Garcia Vendetta Trigger Rods
They are the best rods for under $100 no doubt about it! I say go ahead and buy one.

minnesota, how's the fishing been
The weeds aren't bad at all. We don't have any weeds on top at Long Lake that are deep enough to hold fish. There is a good amount of submerged milfoil that has been the ticket for holding fish. The milfoil isn't too thick so when I see a stem of it I will pitch out there with a wacky rig and let it flutter to the bottem and then bring it back up and repeat.

minnesota, how's the fishing been
I go up to Long Lake in Detroit Lakes a couple times over the summer. I have been up there once during mid June and caught a ton of bass on T-riggged worms hopped down steep dropoffs. The only bad thing about this lake is that there isn't much of any big fish but there definatly is numbers. I am heading back up in 2 weeks to try and get some more. Hopefully a huge cold front doesn't come in the day before I get up there like it did the 1st time.

Southern minnesota
100% agree on Spirit Lake. It is easily the best lake in IA

Berkley Lightning Shock Rod
You're basing your observations on one day of use ?????? WOW. Yeah, I AM!!!!!! Do you have one?????????? If you noticed that is why I incuded the fact that I had just got the rod. I also stated that It SEEMED OK to me! And also YOUR MILAGE MAY VARY ! Thank you very much. I didn't join this forum for a bunch of SMART . remarks and PUNKS to be talking Smack and being Sarcastic. Yes I own one plus the voltaeus that I mentioned earlier and I based my statements on more than one day of use. You should too. Well, Now that I've had it more than ONE DAY I guess I can!!! DAY TWO..... It performed exacty as DAY ONE . Still a pretty nice rod for the price . I even got curious to see if I could " BREAK IT ON A CAST " ( WITHIN NORMAL CONDITIONS) so I tied a 1 oz. white Spinnerbait on it and Slow rolled the marina's with it from approx. 6 a.m. till about 10:45 a.m. this morning ( having knocked the paint and eyeball off of one side of my booyah after accidentally dinging one of the corners of the slips). IT 's STILL HERE!!!!! WOW. Let me bust out my crystal ball so I can tell you what it did for a year or so OK!!! I have only had it for two and a half days so my observations are trial and error! And all I am saying is as of my obviously unacceptable miniscule use and ownership of SAID rod... It seems with my lack of experience and judgement with SAID rod... That it might actually be a decent rod for the price. Besides that who the He77 are you to question me. You don't know me or anything about me. the only reason you are so mouthy is because we aren't standing right in front of each other toe to toe. So why don't you back up off of me and find some body else to pester. It seems like there is always one of you in any croud that thinks they know it all. At least you aren't whining about how I should have got a St.Croix or a Kistler or whatever other $150-$300 rod is in fashion this week! So, thank you for that. Other than that find someone else to pester about your dislike of the rod in this discussion because it really don't make three squirts what you have to say about it . the money is spent , I like the rod ( though obviously I am not qualified to) And I was just answering someones question with the experience ( though not as much as other peoples ) I had with SAID product . I read a lot of answers in these forums that always say " I don't have one but I've heard good things about 'em) and I just wanted to be able to let someone know that the product in question SEEMED to be ( from my observation considering I just got one )Ok SO FAR upon inspection and ONE DAY OF USE!( now TWO) If I was trying to act like a know it all then I would have lied and said " I've had it X amount of time ( a year , six months , whatever) and it did this or that ,was great, or it sucked . I don't do that!!! I gave my honest opinion with what I have to work with and was honest about my lack of any real time other than inspection and a day or two fishing with it. I am sorry if that isn't what you wanted to hear (or read) but that is all I have to give so tick off! And when I wrote this it didn't actually say " TICK OFF"! > Besides all ths crap . When I gave " MY " answer to the question asked "Anyone have this rod. If so what do you like and what do you not like about it. It is only a 50 dollar rod. That is why i am concerend about it." I don't believe I was talking to "YOU" anyway!!!!!!! Hey nobody, I have some words of advice for you. Quit adding fuel to the fire! You are just asking for trouble with all these posts. I am almost thinking that you are intentionally doing this to try and get under his skin. PLZ just stop adding fuel to the fire and save yourself some grief. As for the Lightning Shock Rod I have not used one but have used the regular Lightning rod and I must say that it is a great rod for the price. You can't go wrong with either one.
